Tube feeding can be necessary in newborns that won’t nurse from their dam and will not take a bottle. Always try to get them to nurse or bottle feed before attempting a tube feed. Most newborn crias will require feeds of between 60-120ml depending on the size of the cria. Crias must be capable of holding their heads up in order to provide a tube-feed: otherwise there is an increased risk of inhaling milk.
