Gauze swabs – pack of 100. 10x10cm square, 8 ply.
Soft and highly absorbent, these gauze swabs are ideal for use in skin cleansing and wound debridement. Ideally move any hair away from the wound, clip around it if possible. Then make up a bowl of cleaning fluid. I like to use a metal or plastic bowl and put about 250ml of warm water in the bowl with your chosen wound cleansing agent. This should be iodine solution, chlorhexidine solution or just add salt. Do not use scrub solutions for this as they have soaps added that can be toxic to the exposed tissue. You might need more for larger wounds, or to replace the fluid.
Use dry swabs at the end of cleaning to dry the edges. You then might like to use an aluminium spray to protect the wound from infection and to act like a liquid bandage. Larger wounds may need suturing.
These gauze swabs are made of 100% Cotton Gauze Type 13 and Manufactured to BP/EN 14079 standards.
